In confirmation of my telegram

of the 30th. ultimo, I have the honour to inform you that

Miss Bateman, Second Mistress of Belilios Public School and

Acting Head Mistress has resigned with effect from the end

of this term, as she is leaving the Colony to be married.

2.

The present is a time of rapid

development in the school, and it would be most undesir-

-able to leave it in the hands of a casually recruited

teacher. I have therefore reluctantly been compelled to

recommend that Mrs. Tutcher be recalled from leave. She

should arrive in Hongkong not later than the 22nd. of next

February, 1.e. at the beginning of the new term.

In order to replace Miss Bateman

a thoroughly competent Second Mistress should be engaged.
